Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Aesthetics

As a design-centric company Bentley takes its aesthetics extremely seriously. This is evident in the precise positioning of its quilting, the use of leather derived from leftovers from cattle and sustainable managed forests, and the ingenuous patterns of its levers. When you drive by a car like the Continental GT W12, its beautiful sculptural design is highlighted by carefully selected lighting.

The Continental GT is the most sophisticated open-top Bentley ever built. The rear of the tonneau in the Continental GT, for example was the biggest piece of dark-stained Burr Walnut veneer that was book-matched. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

Bentley is the most sought-after brand in the automotive industry globally due to its bespoke design and craftsmanship. The company continues to push boundaries with the latest technology and craft, including the introduction of a digital instrument cluster and an electric tilt-opening rear glass sunroof and a crafted docking station for Apple iPads, and electrochromic smart glass that can be changed from opaque to transparent by a button.

A century after its creation, Bentley - now under sole Volkswagen ownership after years of fighting with BMW and BMW - celebrated its centennial in the year 2019. Design

The cabin features cross-stitching and contrast stitching in Centenary Gold throughout. The Bentley Wings are embroidered with Centenary Gold on the headrests seats, the interior and other areas of the car. This adds to the celebration. A bespoke Bentley key case is included in the Centenary Specification, making the Bentley experience all-inclusive.

Function

Each key takes two days to create. The key is cut by hand, then shaped, sewed after which it is sealed and polished to achieve a high-quality result. It is durable compact and fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is similar to the Volkswagen Phaeton's huge car key, but it feels heavier and more luxurious.

Secure-A-Key is also included to protect against keyless entry theft. This device is inserted inside the remote-control key fob. It will shut it off after a few minutes of inactivity, preventing thieves from transmitting the frequency of the key to other devices that could unlock and start the vehicle.

Bentley's distinctive design reflects the company's values of fine craftsmanship, engineering expertise, and modern technology. The headquarters in Crewe is home to more than four hundred employees who are responsible for the development, design and production of Bentley vehicles. These workers apply the skills that have been handed through generations to the latest automotive technology. This is the hallmark of British manufacturing at its finest.

Personalisation

Bentley's Mulliner division lets customers create their own car. The customers sit at a set of pictures referred to as "mood stations" and select a series of images ranging from scenic views to sporting events that can inspire them. When each selection is made, a pattern emerges which shows the design and color preferences for the custom Bentley.

The guests receive an individual key case created by hand that contains the R.F.I.D. enabled key cards. Keys can be outfitted with Bentley Muliner Personalised welcome lamps that illuminate the way of the door's opening. They are adorned with the owner's logo or name as they approach the car.

Bentley says it takes roughly 500 man-hours to craft and assemble the average Mulsanne. The inability to adopt new technology is the key to this time-consuming effort. The Crewe factory workers do not utilize a machine for arranging perfectly-matched cross stitched leather seats. Instead they do it by hand. Drivers are required to park their vehicles manually, rather than using sensors built into the vehicle to guide them into parallel and perpendicular spots.

Bentley displayed its Mulliner personalization capabilities in a unique Mulsanne W.O. Edition, that pays tribute to William Osler, the founder of Bentley. The Mulsanne W.O. Edition pays homage to the founding father of the brand, William Osler bentley bentayga key fob. The limited-edition cars come with a special key that displays a slice of the 1930 8 Litre's crankshaft.
