Before forming Toto, its members did sessions for Steely Dan,[3] Seals and Crofts,[4] Boz Scaggs and Sonny and Cher. [5] Guitarist Steve Lukather was the band's lead singer.
About Toto
The band Toto was formed in the year 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro and David Paich (who were also highly acclaimed studio musicians who worked with Boz Scaggs at the time) as well as bassist/singer Bobby Kimball. The name comes from the Latin word meaning "all inclusive," the group was intent on exploring all styles of music.
Toto's third release, Turn Back, was an unfulfilling success in 1981. However they made amends with their fourth release, Isolation, which contained two hit songs, including the title song and Roseanna. The album and

However, Toto reunited in 2010 to benefit the ALS Foundation. It was the first time in more than 31 year that all of Toto's original members were on stage together. The original group was joined by keyboardist Greg Tambu who filled in for Paich, and bassist David Hungate who filled in for Shem von Schroeck.

Despite their acclaim The group faced a few difficulties in their later years. In 2002 the keyboardist David Paich and drummer Greg Phillinganes took a medical leave of absence. Shem von Schröeck was brought in to replace him however, the group wasn't the same without Paich or Phillinganes. In 2008, Toto decided to take a break from touring after changing the lineup of their band and a disappointing series of releases. However, the group resumed performing in 2012 following the release of their album 40 Trips Around the Sun.
The album marked a return to the band's top form and the tour that accompanied it featured sold-out concerts in North America and Europe. The reunion of Toto gathered momentum after the return of bassist Shem Von Schroeck and guitarist Steve Lukather.
