Lamborghini Enters the World of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)

After a series of social media posts suggesting it, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini finally announced its NFT (non fungible token) Project. Dubbed Space Key and developed in collaboration with an undisclosed artist, it is built on a piece of advanced carbon fiber composite material that was sent to the International Space Station for research purposes.

Its core is a piece comprised of an advanced carbon fibre composite material, which was delivered to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a research project. Carbon fiber was 3D printed for the base of every Space Key. Each Space Key is linked to an exclusive, digital artwork via a QR code. Just five Space Keys have been produced.

Space Key consists of five units. The components were built by using a piece of the carbon fiber composite that was sent to the ISS in 2019. Each NFT will come with an QR code that connects it to a special digital art work created by the same artist. The digital artwork

After several weeks of social media posts that hinted at it, the luxury car manufacturer Lamborghini has finally announced its first non-fungible token (NFT) project. Called the Space Key, it consists of five physical items that unlock a unique digital artwork NFT created by a yet-to-be-identified artist. The collectors' item was created in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm) and is limited to just five units. It will be auctioned soon.

Each Space Key contains a block composed of carbon-fired composite material. It was sent to the International Space Station as part of a 2019 research program. After returning to Earth, the block was engraved with QR codes that connect to the digital component in the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys will feature a separate moment that occurs seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. Each of five images was shot by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.

Oefner used a balloon with a camera, which took each of the individual shots which were then merged into the final image. The result is a photograph that is completely out of the world. It captures both the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic look of a car rising away from the Earth. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned off soon, but there is no exact date or location yet.

The auction

With the slogan 'to the moon', luxury automobile manufacturer Lamborghini has entered the realm of non-fungible tokens (NFT) by launching a hypnotic project that was developed in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm). The auctions, which will occur between February 1 through February 4, last for 75 hours and 50 minutes - the same amount of time it took for Apollo 11 to leave Earth and enter the lunar orbit. By making an online registration, you can bid on five NFTs. Each will be sold by itself and the winner will be awarded a digital artwork made by renowned photographer Fabian Oefner, which captures the five different moments the Space Key passed during its flight through space.
