WoW Upgrades - The
item level upgrade (

Upgrades give you boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.
Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as valuable for those with higher variance due to the need to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the
item upgrader kit is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.
You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.
The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgraders in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with a button, which will display an item's preview at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.
Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon as well as the chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade must be acquired through various methods, which is both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading further items to the same level will be less expensive, even when they belong to an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that Crests are only available to equipment with a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, based on the type or gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
The use of these currencies isn't too complicated, but the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. For instance, it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the
Best item upgrader gear you have available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially relevant for rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character that will be able to avail the account-wide discount when all slots are full of high-quality equipment.
