Albums

Toto's discography consists of 13 studio albums as well as 4 live albums. There are also a few compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done work with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The group has won multiple Grammy Awards.

Before Toto was formed The members of the band played session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate, and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs' 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 following the collaboration.

Turn Back, Toto's third studio album, was criticized by critics due to lacking hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Fredericksen quit The band held auditions to find a new frontman. The band chose guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by scouring through old tapes and demos to release a special edition called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans and Toto began a tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

In the course of the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun the drummer Leland Sklar left the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set titled Falling in Between, which included recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the band.

The video takes place in a library and features the group performing on top of a pile of books about Africa.

The track "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. It was written by the band members and produced by David Paich. It was a huge hit in Europe and a variety of other countries.
