Origins
The early history of Toto which began in 1917, mirrored Japan's economic growth. In the beginning of its existence, the company produced products to meet the demand for new, modern urban housing. To do this, it employed the first tunnel kiln in the country to produce ceramics in continuous flow. It also pioneered automation for production control, which helps to increase efficiency and a more consistent production.
The company began expanding overseas in the late 1980s to benefit from new markets and sales opportunities. The company founded the Cera Trading Company to import and distribute other products from other manufacturers in order to enhance its own line of sanitary earthenwares as well as plumbing fittings. This strategy helped increase sales and expand the firm’s global market share.
In the 1990s, Toto began to focus on research and development for water-related appliances. It also improved its distribution system to better meet the needs of its customers and to increase profits. The company implemented a just-in-time approach to supply chain management, and it used the same method in its sales program. This led to a higher level of customer satisfaction.
Toto has continued to innovate on the toilet technology. The latest toilet from the company features a strong, eco-friendly tornado flush. The company makes use of recycled water for its manufacturing process and has a green purchasing policy. In addition to toilets Toto manufactures bathtubs and faucets and hand dryers that are more efficient in energy use than typical models.
The first museum of the company opened in the year 2015 and features exhibits on Toto's most iconic products and their evolution and its group companies (all related to ceramics) and the historical background of plumbing and products such as bath units and,

They also played on records by Steely Don, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.

Line-up
Turn Back, the band's third studio album it was an attempt to return to the traditional sextet style and a more consistent, stronger album with a sharper edge. David Paich's keyboard work was also more sophisticated, sharper, and less derivative on earlier efforts.
After touring to promote the album, the band recorded a live performance in Amsterdam that was released as a two-CD set entitled Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. The group released a brand new studio album just a few months after and embarked on a tour around the world to support it. During this time, keyboardist Greg Phillinganes filled in for Paich, and bassist David Hungate left the group to spend more time with his family.
In 1998, Paich & Lukather began searching through old tapes & demos to find songs that hadn't been recorded prior to. The album was released in 2001 as a duo album called Then and Now.
