Path of Exile
Item UpgradingItem upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing the base stats of the item or giving additional benefits. To upgrade an
item upgrader kit, a player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.
Usually objects with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base while items with strong bases such as eth titans do not vary much in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They give you an attribute bonus or additional effect, when the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, found in loot, thrown away by enemies or received as a reward for missions or chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.
To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players must select it and then click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade statistics and the necessary component or materials.
There are three types: universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, are able to be used on any kind of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type restriction. Infusions are only placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment are exactly the same as gems, but offer higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix to the end of the names of items. For example the addition of a Glyph would make a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the instance of upgrades for gathering tools when a player swaps one glyph with a different one, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, excluding inscriptions which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade process differs from previous versions in several key ways. Gear is now classified into tracks, and each item can be upgraded as many times before it is "leveled out." The upgrade cost is increased with each level however, the materials needed don't increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a couple of essential items and maximize their impact, instead of spreading the upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
If an item is leveled out, it will be eligible for a new set of upgrade components, and an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy and it will reset to zero in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade is successful.
When a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it can receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes available is determined by the item's type. For example an uncommon or rare weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes for it, while legendary armors will have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade step will require a certain number of Flightstones and crests depending on the item's current level and the
item upgrade slot it's in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item does not attain its maximum level, the NPC grants players the option to transfer it to a new character and then re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and will cost the same amount of materials however it will have lower chances of success.
To measure the height of a structure, engineers will use an instrument to compare the measurement to an established reference point like a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to a high level of accuracy and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of altering an item's upgrade components. It is a vital aspect of the game and can dramatically increase the strength of an item or damage, as well as other attributes. You can do this via the item menu, or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be done in the rarest of circumstances.
The game lets players recycle upgraded items, which can be used to acquire reroll tokens. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another similar item. Recyclable items have a gauge that shows the degree of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and cost of upgrading of the item.
Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes which made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you would receive the stats that mattered most to your build often than others. This included stats like armor's total armour, thorns, and the control impaired duration stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.
This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the identical chance of rolling each statistic. This can be a great or a bad thing, dependent on your needs and expectations from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can be equipped with a special bonus that increases the item's power by a specific percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added to standard affixes. The more you upgrade a product, the greater your chances of receiving an exclusive bonus.
The game also features several sets, that offer a set-based bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on a unit. This is an excellent way to add a lot of power to a character without spending lots of money.
Many players reroll their weapons and gear particularly in the beginning stages. Rerolling is a method to gain a stronger character quicker, which enables you to progress in the game and achieve higher tiers.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be set up differently. They can be of different sizes, have none of the elements, or have a single element. They can be used for organizing data or sorting information. They are also useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways, including size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an array of upgradeable set items. Some are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets that offer high defense value and set bonuses. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in boosting stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already extensive.
Set items can be upgraded to include special procs that are useful for specific builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).
Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items up to the level of the levels. For example the Immortal King set has a vast range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower-level items could improve their defense, and improve their performance in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the item's attributes and the required items to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed together with any required items. For example, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also verify the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general the jewelry and weapons have better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have weapons-damage or spell glyphs. This will bring about a significant improvement in their performance. It will also boost the defense value of armor with an updated look.
